Chatwal Hotels & Resorts plans to launch 52 hotels in five years in India

Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, the management arm of Chatwal Hotels & Resorts, a US-based hospitality company promoted by Sant Singh Chatwal, announced their major expansion plans for the Indian market for their lifestyle luxury brand, Dream and mid-scale boutique hotel brand, 'Night', at a press conference in New Delhi today. The company has plans to set up 52 hotels (40 Night hotels and 12 Dream hotels) under management and franchise model in the next five years. Initial plans include the first 'Dream' resort in Goa and first 'Night' hotel in Chennai.

According to Sant Singh Chatwal, Chairman and CEO, Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, the company has already signed contract for 18 properties with developers across India and would be investing Rs 1000 crore in setting up infrastructure including manpower in the market in the next five years. This is over and above the Rs 1000 crore the company has already invested in the market.? Hampshire Hotels & Resorts already owns and manages a 'Dream' hotel in Kochi in Kerala since 2008. Currently, 'Dream' and 'Night' hotels are operational in New York, Miami and Bangkok and international plans expansion plans include hotels in Vienna (Austria), Prague (Czechoslovakia), Budapest (Hungary), Berlin (Germany), Zagreb (Croatia), Sao Paulo (Brazil) and 10 properties across USA including Los Angeles.? Chatwal Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in New York, owns and manages 10 hotels in New York, two in India, one in London and one in Bangkok.

He informed that the 18 properties, that have been signed, are coming up in Delhi, Jaipur, Goa, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Raipur, Dehradun, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Out of these 18, 10 are committed by a single developer, JMJ Group. As far as equity investment in the upcoming hotels is concerned, Sant Singh Chatwal said that the company would put in equity wherever required, depending on the developer concerned. He informed that Chatwal Hotels & Resorts will have equity participation ranging from 26 per cent to 39 per cent in six of the upcoming properties. Chatwal Hotels & Resorts also has an exclusive tie-up with Wyndham Hotels for 'Dream' and 'Night' brands, which gives them access to the global reservation system of Wyndham and also allows the latter to find suitable franchise partners.

?Both, 'Dream' and 'Night' are brands that are built on the foundation of lifestyle hotels. The emphasis and philosophy of both these brands revolve around the three concepts of stimulating imagination, entertainment and engaging the senses of our guests. By increasing the spread of these two brands, we hope to offer a differentiated experience to the Indian consumer. The plan is to make these brands largest boutique hotel brands in the world in the next ten years,? added Vikram Chatwal, Founder, Vikram Chatwal Hotels & Resorts. He said that the company plans to set up around 80-100 'Dream' hotels and about 200 'Night' hotels across the world in next ten years.
