Eight Greenpeace supporters, arrested after demonstrations at Shell petrol stations in Edinburgh, have appeared in court.
They appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with malicious mischief.
Monday's protest was over plans by the oil giant to drill in the Arctic. The accused appeared individually, in private.
No plea or declaration was made on their behalf and the case was continued for further inquiry.
The accused are: John Wright, 56, from Belfast; Rowan Burrough, 42, from Abergwyngregyn; Amy Rutland, 22, from Liverpool; Paul Hutchinson, 63, from York; Anthony Greaves, 51, from London; Simon Hackin, 46, from Edinburgh; Dominic Joyce, 18, from Southwell; and Steven Roy Smith, 38, from London.
All were released on bail with the special condition that they do not enter any premises occupied by Shell UK or linked to the company.
Those living outwith the city were placed on a second special condition not to enter Edinburgh unless for court business or to meet their solicitor.
