Samsung announced on Monday that it has sold more than 100 million Galaxy S-branded smartphones. That includes the Galaxy S, the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy S III, as well as any other devices with the ?Galaxy S? moniker attached. The South Korea phone maker said that it sold 41 million Galaxy S III devices, 40 million Galaxy S II units and 25 million Galaxy S phones,?AP noted.

The news comes amid reports that Apple is cutting component supplies as demand for the iPhone 5 is beginning to cool off. The first Galaxy S model was introduced by Samsung in May 2010, and the branding has proved incredibly successful around the globe. The phones have no doubt helped propel Samsung to the world?s number one phone maker. Can it sustain the success with the introduction of the Galaxy S IV? We think we?ll have a better idea during Mobile World Congress next month.
